Login Help & FAQs

Certain content on FD.org, including DSOTD program materials and criminal defense topics is password protected. You must log in to FD.org to access protected content. CJA panel attorneys and practitioners doing federal criminal defense work pursuant to the Criminal Justice Act can access this redesigned website via the following steps:

  • If you work in a federal defender office, you can log in with your current FD.org log-in credentials. Please note, for any password related issues you must contact your CSA. If you are new to fd.org and do not have log-in credentials, please contact fdorg_help@ao.uscourts.gov for login instructions.
  • If you are a CJA panel attorney or private criminal defense practitioner who was actively using the old FD.org site, i.e. you have logged in to the old FD.org website within the last year, you must reset your password to log in.
  • If you are a CJA panel attorney or a private criminal defense practitioner whose account has expired, i.e. you have not accessed FD.org in the last year, please email fdorg_help@ao.uscourts.gov with your: a) email address, b) CJA panel status, c) practicing district, and d) appointment letter or confirmation email from your panel representative and/or panel administrator. A DSOTD staff member will provide you with the information needed to log in upon receipt of these materials.
  • If you are a CJA panel attorney or a private criminal defense practitioner who has never had an FD.org account/access please complete the online application. DSOTD staff will attempt to review your application within 7 business days. If approved, you will receive an automated email containing your user ID and instructions to create a password. If denied, we will notify you by email with the relevant explanation. 

If you are requesting access due to expired credentials or are new to FD.org, obtaining access can take up to 7 business days. For immediate assistance on a legal issue please call our hotline at 1-800-788-9908 or email fdorg_help@ao.uscourts.gov. For more information, please see the FAQ’s below. 

No, you do not need to set up a new account. 

If you are an FDO employee, your current log in credentials will work on this site.

 If you are CJA panel attorney, private practitioner or DO NOT HAVE an @fd.org email address:

  • You will need to reset your password to log in to this upgraded FD.org site using the reset password link.
  • If your account had expired on the old FD.org site, please send an email to fdorg_help@ao.uscourts.gov with
  1. Your email address.
  2. Your CJA Panel status.
  3. District.
  4. Panel appointment letter or Administrator information.

Please note that we will need up to 3 business days to verify and set up your account after it has expired. If you are still having issues, please contact fdorg_help@ao.uscourts.gov

Check your email for a message from the sender fdorg_help@ao.uscourts.gov, which contains information on your log in credentials. If you cannot locate this email, please use the forgot your password form and reset a new password for your email log in. If you are still having issues, please contact fdorg_help@ao.uscourts.gov

Your username/email is the email address that you entered on the online form you filled out to request login credentials. It is also the email address we used to notify you that your request for access was granted. Check your email for a message from sender fdorg_help@ao.uscourts.gov, which contains information on your log in credentials. If you are still having issues, please contact fdorg_help@ao.uscourts.gov

Go to forgot your password and reset your password. If you are still having issues, please contact fdorg_help@ao.uscourts.gov

Our online event registration system and FD.org credential log in system are not the same. The username and password that you used to register for an events will continue to work work when you register for future events. You do not need to log into FD.org to register for a training event.  However, if you want access to our password-protected program materials and criminal defense topics, you need to apply for log in credentials using the form on our request access now page. If you are still having issues, please contact fdorg_help@ao.uscourts.gov

Reset your password again, using your account email. When you receive the link in your email, copy, and paste it in a browser rather than clicking on it.

Please use another browser instead of the one you previously used to access FD.org or clear out your browser cache.

If you are no longer on the CJA panel, please email us at fdorg_help@ao.uscourts.gov explaining why you need continued FD.org access or to deactivate your account. 

Google Chrome: Press Ctrl + Shift + Delete to open the Clear Browsing Data window. Select "Cached images and files" and click "Clear data". 

Mozilla Firefox: Press Ctrl + Shift + Delete to open the Clear Recent History window. Choose "Cache" and click "Clear Now". 

Microsoft Edge: Go to Settings > Privacy, search, and services > Clear browsing data. Select "Choose what to clear" and check "Cached images and files". 

Internet Explorer: Press Ctrl + Shift + Delete to open the Delete Browsing History window. Check "Temporary Internet files" and click "Delete".

If you are a CJA panel attorney or private criminal defense practitioner who was actively using the old FD.org site, i.e. you have logged in to the old FD.org website within the last year, you can log in to DSOTD's redesigned site by resetting your password

FD.org is a restricted government website for official judiciary business only. All activities on FD.org for any purpose, and all access attempts, may be recorded and monitored or reviewed by persons authorized by the federal judiciary for improper use, protection of system security, performance of maintenance, and appropriate management by the judiciary of its systems. By using FD.org or any connected system, users expressly consent to system monitoring and to official access to data reviewed and created by them on the website. Any evidence of unlawful activity, including unauthorized access attempts, may be reported to law enforcement officials.
