Attorney general Pam Bondi has ordered the transfer of a federal inmate in Lousiana to Oklahoma so he can be executed (article available here).

Bondi directed the Federal Bureau of Prisons to transfer George John Hanson, 60, so that he can be executed for his role in a murder in Tulsa in 1999. Hanson was sentenced to death in Tulsa County, Oklahoma.

Hanson has been serving a life sentence at a Louisiana federal prison for a bank robbery.

While Hanson was scheduled for execution in Oklahoma state in 2022, the Federal Bureau of Prisons denied Oklahoma’s request to transfer for execution.

Hanson is now asking a federal judge in Louisiana to prevent his transfer.
