A federal judge in Michigan was sentenced on Wednesday to six months of probation and ordered to pay $1,175 in fees and costs after he pleaded no contest on Wednesday to a misdemeanor drunken-driving charge, according to court records.
According to The Detroit News, the 72-year-old U.S. District Judge was involved in a crash on Oct. 3, 2025. He reportedly struck two traffic signs before crashing on a rural road.
He registered a blood-alcohol level of 0.27, well above the legal limit of 0.08.
The U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan had announced in February that the judge was taking a leave of absence pending the resolution of the DUI case.
