The chief judge of the Boston-based U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit has found probable cause that a district court judge within the circuit engaged in misconduct by violating a rule prohibiting the creation of a hostile work environment.
In a newly released order summarizing an inquiry prompted by information from one of the judge’s former law clerks, the chief judge said the matter was closed without further action due to “intervening events.”
The order did not specify what those events were and did not identify the judge or the court involved. District courts within the First Circuit are located in Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Puerto Rico.
