In an October 10 article entitled What Is Prison Like for Women and Girls?, the Marshall Project teamed up with Teen Vogue to chronicle the experiences and unique challenges faced by the fastest-growing group of prisoners in the United States: women and girls.  For example, female inmates are victims in one-third of all sexual assault cases reported in prisons, although they make up only 7% of the prison population.  The reporting includes video interviews by Senator Corey Booker with formerly incarcerated women, and a student whose parents have been incarcerated since she was a toddler.
