Although the United States Sentencing Commission is without a quorum to promulgate and adopt Guideline Amendments--five of seven Commissioner seats are vacant--the Commission staff continue to publish new and useful research on federal sentencing.  Below is a list of recent publications:

 

  • Overview of Federal Criminal Cases, Fiscal Year 2018 (April 16, 2020)  This report provides an overview of the 76,656 federal criminal cases in which the offender was sentenced in FY 2019 (Oct. 1, 2018 to Sept. 30, 2019).

  • 2019 Federal Sentencing Statistics (April 17, 2020) These reports provide FY2019  sentencing statistics from each judicial district, the districts within each judicial circuit, and the districts within each state. Each report compares the statistics from the respective district, circuit, or state to the nation as a whole, broken down into various figures and tables.
