Second Circuit Appoints Charles F. Willson As Next Connecticut Federal Defender

The United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit announced today the appointment of Charles "Chuck" Willson as the Federal Public Defender for the District of Connecticut.

Mr. Willson has served as an Assistant Federal Defender in the District of Connecticut since 2015. Prior to joining the Office,he was in private practice. While in private practice, Mr. Willson was a member of the Criminal Justice Act Panels for the District of Connecticut and the Second Circuit Court of Appeals for over ten years, as well as for the First Circuit Court of Appeals. Mr. Willson has served as an adjunct professor teaching Evidence at the University of Connecticut School of Law since 2022.

He will assume his duties on April 1, 2026.
