President Biden is pushing Senate confirmation of his judicial nominees. On November 12, 2024, April M. Perry became President Biden’s 214th confirmed judicial nominee. Perry will serve as a federal district court judge for the Northern District of Illinois. Additionally, President Biden continues to make judicial nominations as his presidential tenure comes to a close. Recently, he announced his nomination of Tali Farhadian Weinstein to the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.
There are approximately 30 judicial nominees who are awaiting Senate confirmation, including four federal court of appeals nominees. Approximately, sixteen of these nominees have been reviewed by the Senate Judiciary Committee and are awaiting final Senate confirmation vote. Fourteen of these nominees are waiting review by the Judiciary Committee.
Since 2021, the Senate has confirmed 214 judges nominated by President Biden. Approximately two thirds of these nominees are women and racial minorities. However, vacancies in the federal courts persist.
