The decline in death penalty prosecutions and executions has been well-documented.  But, criminal justice experts continue to debate the reasons for the decline.  University of Virginia Law Professor Brandon Garrett’s new book, End of Its Rope: How Killing The Death Penalty Can Revive Criminal Justice, explores and analyzes the various factors contributing to the decline in capital punishment.  The Marshall Project recently published a question and answer interview with Professor Garrett entitled What's Behind the Decline in the Death Penatly.
