The National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NACDL) today announced the launch of the Full Disclosure Project (press release available here). The Project "aims to disrupt the culture of secrecy that systematically and pervasively shields law enforcement misconduct by changing police secrecy laws and empowering the defense community to track police misconduct."

The Project would grow out CAPstat, a database compiled by the Legal Aid Society in New York that logs payroll information, certain available disciplinary history and lawsuits against officers in the NYPD.

The Full Disclosure Project database will make use of lawsuits, community complaints, and body camera footage, according to the NACDL.
