Along with Fort Dix in New Jersey, the Philadelphia Federal Detention Center now has one of the largest outbreaks in the federal system, with 171 incarcerated people and 28 staff infected as of Friday, court records show (article available here). Attorneys suing the prison claim the federal government knew about this outbreak early on, and did not act properly to mitigate the spread. It is the facility's second outbreak.

The vast majority of the people at the facility are pre-trial detainees.

The full lockdown means no attorney visits. No social visits from friends or family. Limited communications, limited email, limited access to legal research. Incarcerated people are only permitted out of their cells three times a week, for 30 minutes, to shower and make monitored phone calls.
